In 2018, DeLand had one bluegrass Tuesday a month, at one room. That room — Boston Coffeehouse, which closed in 2020 — was the only place to hear stringed music midweek.
In 2026, DeLand has three Tuesday bluegrass nights a month, across three rooms.
Café da Vinci runs the first Tuesday. Listening-room format, 80 cap, no opening band. They book one act and let them play 90 minutes.
The Elusive Grape (Woodland Boulevard) added a Tuesday slot in late 2024. 140 cap, more conversational. Bluegrass leaning Americana — Buck Hollow, Mason Porter Trio, the Florida-state-bluegrass-circuit regulars.
Persimmon Hollow Brewing has hosted occasional Tuesday bluegrass since 2023; in 2026 they made it monthly. Outdoor patio, 200 cap when the weather holds.
What we're watching: the three rooms cooperate. The bookers talk. A band routing through gets all three Tuesdays if their schedule fits. That kind of small-market coordination is what built the Asheville scene, the Athens scene, the Lawrence scene in the 90s and 2000s.
DeLand isn't trying to be Asheville. But the structure is starting to feel right.
If you're a bluegrass act working the southeast and DeLand isn't on your routing, look again.
